‘Operation Smackdown’ Nets More Arrests, Police Say
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – Several people are behind bars facing a variety of drugs and weapons charges following the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department’s continued efforts in ‘Operation Smackdown.’
For the past several weeks, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and cooperating agencies have conducted a drug sting targeting drug activity in Sumter County, twenty-six arrest warrants were served and twelve people were arrested officials say.
Authorities say the operation resulted in the seizure of controlled substances, crack cocaine, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, Fentanyl and OxyContin.
The arrests of Karen Cotton, Jamel Rashad Brown, Quincy Satterwhite, Marcus Haynesworth and Jamar Clyburn were a continuation of Operation Smackdown, which netted 36 arrests last month; three people remain at large who are being sought in connection with the operation, officials say.
Investigators also seized approximately $40,000 in Counterfeit goods were seized to include purses, shirts and sneakers.
Agencies assisting include the Sumter Police Department and The SC Dept. of Probation, Parole and Pardon Service.
