AUGUSTA, Ga. (Claflin) – The Benedict College baseball came to an end on Friday afternoon as the Claflin Panthers took a 4-2 victory in an elimination game at Lake Olmstead Stadium.

Benedict concludes the season with a 25-16 record.

Claflin jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and the Tigers never could come back from the deficit.

The Panthers struck first in the first inning, getting a run after a walk, a wild pitch and an RBI single. Claflin added two more runs in the second inning for a 3-0 lead on a two-run single into the left field corner by Darrell Langston.

Benedict starting pitcher Robert Troiano III held the Panthers to just four hits the rest of the way.

The Tigers got a run in the third inning when Joel Manzano singled, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Ricardo Pagan and came home on a single by Andrew McCoy. Benedict cut the lead to 4-2 with a run in the fourth inning thanks to a pair of errors by Claflin. McCoy hit a sacrifice fly to score Myles Snype.
