Alia Murder Suspect Due in Court

Columbia, SC. (WOLO) — The man accused of shooting and killing a Forest Acres police officer is expected to appear in court Tuesday morning.

Jarvis Hall who has been charged with murder for the 2015 death of Officer Greg Alia is set to appear in the Richland County Court where he’s expected to plead guilty to the deadly shooting outside of Richland Mall.

You may remember the incident took place after officers were called to the shopping mall for a suspicious person. Once officers arrived they approached a van they say Hall was sitting in, but when they attempted to question him officers say Hall ran into the mall, and Officer Alia followed.

According to a warrant obtained by ABC Columbia News, Hall and Alia were involved in a brief struggle when Hall allegedly pulled a gun and shot Officer Alia to death.

Alia’s wife Kassy, has been very vocal since the loss of her husband, even starting a local foundation to honor those who serve and protect called Heroes in Blue.

Kassy posted a heartfelt message to her late husband on social media leading up to the court appearance Tuesday saying: ” When you died, I found strength in your love. As we move into tomorrow, I find strength in my love for Sal – what I hope he knows, what I hope he learns. I hope to carry forward the legacy you left. I only hope to find the right words.
