Emily Baird joined ABC Columbia in September of 2011 as the 11 p.m. producer and fill-in weather anchor.
Originally from the Youngstown area, Emily attended school at Ohio University and was a student in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. It was here that she received her broadcast journalism degree, her meteorology minor, and her specialization in geography. She also graduated Summa Cum Laude.
During her four years at OU, Emily became an active member of the news and weather team at WOUB. She reported, produced, anchored news, and anchored weather for NewsWatch, a completely student-produced nightly newscast.
The OU Geography Department also employed Emily. She was a forecaster for Scalia Lab and worked with one of her geography professors too, becoming a Lab Teaching Assistant.
Emily got her start in the broadcast news at WHIZ in Zanesville, Ohio in September of 2008. She was a weekend anchor, weekend weather forecaster, reporter, and producer.
She moved to South Carolina back in November of 2010. It's her first time living outside the state of Ohio, and she has really enjoyed the "southern hospitality."
For about 10 months, Emily worked at another station in the Columbia area where she was a web content producer, assignment editor, reporter, and fill-in weather anchor.
When Emily is not working, she enjoys skiing, watching movies, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. She's also busy planning her wedding for the summer of 2012 with her wonderful fiance, Justin.
