Event Description

The congregation of Reformation Lutheran Church invites you to join us for a different sort of worship experience.

Taizé Song and Prayer Service, held the fourth Sunday of every month at 6PM, is a casual, come-as-you-are worship experience drawing upon the contemplative worship practices of the ecumenical monastic community at Taizé in southeastern France. Founded in 1940 with the mission of healing divisions between Christians and within the human family, the Taizé community welcomes thousands of people each week from all over the world to pray, to search, to sing, and to find refreshment and renewal.

This quiet and meditative service features the distinctive music of the Taizé community and also includes familiar hymns, scripture, a time of silent reflection, and Holy Communion. Candlelight and icons transform Reformation’s beautiful and nobly inspiring worship space into a more intimate and inviting setting in which worshipers are at one with each other and God.

The service normally lasts about 45 minutes.

In describing the worship of Taizé, Brother Alois, a member of the religious order, has written, “The exchange with God becomes real for us in prayer: by his Holy Spirit, God comes to dwell within us. By his word and by the sacraments, Christ gives himself to us. In return, we can surrender everything to him.”
