On Saturday, September 29th, 2012, the Columbia School of Karatedo (“CSK”) will hold its 2nd Annual Open House from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the school, located at 604 Meeting Street in West Columbia.
The event is open to the public and will provide an overview of classes and programs available at CSK. The CSK Competition Team will be on hand for demonstrations of kata (forms) and kumite (sparring). Sensei Tamayah Sorrells and Sensei James Sorrells, Chief Instructors and Team Coaches for CSK and members of the US National Junior Karate Team, will also be present to answer questions and sign autographs.
In addition to karate classes, CSK offers a top-rated after school program, various fitness classes and seasonal programs for children and teens. All activities at the school stress discipline, self control and respect, as a result of these characteristics karate is often recommended to parents of ADD/ADHD children. Children can begin training at CSK as early as age 4.
Owner and Instructor Pamela Lyons Sorrells says, “CSK has something for everyone! Karate is a sport and an art, people of all ages and fitness levels can benefit from training here. We want anyone that has ever been interested in learning karate to come by on the 29th to see what a dojo is all about!”
The Columbia School of Karatedo is dedicated to teaching the Art, Sport, and Science of karatedo and is registered with the USA National Karatedo Federation, the national governing body for karate in the United States. The school was founded in 1979 by Ridgley Abele and has built a solid reputation locally, nationally and internationally as a top training location for athletes of all levels.
