Event Description

The diseases we face today are very different from the past. Students will learn about diseases that afflicted people in the 19th century including smallpox, polio, malaria, yellow fever, scarlet fever, cholera, and more. Activities and games will help students understand the differences between these diseases and how the world worked to cure them. Today’s minor ailments could be killers in the past. Even the lotions, potions, and medicines used could sometimes do more harm than good.

Reservations are suggested. To make your reservation, email jquint@historiccolumbia.org or call 803.252.1770 ext. 36.
