On Monday, April 15th, 2013, the University of South Carolina’s Tourism Festival and Management Class will hold its annual Chefs on the Shoe Fundraiser Event. This will be an evening to remember, consisting of live entertainment, delicious food, and fun filled surprises. In addition, there will be a silent auction of items that have been graciously donated by our supportive community. All proceeds of the event will benefit the Jules Pernell Memorial Scholarship Fund. Chef Jules Pernell was a respected professor that was loved by students and faculty alike. He taught culinary courses for the Hotel, Restaurant, and Tourism Management School at USC for an incredible 22 years. When he passed away a mere 3 months after discovering he had a terminal disease, the campus mourned the loss of a talented and kind individual. Chef Jules was a die-hard Gamecock, and had a deep passion for teaching and enriching the lives of students. In honor of this exceptional person, we have created a scholarship fund in his memory, which will offer educational opportunities to future HRTM majors who need the financial support.Return to event list.
