Audiences of all ages have enjoyed high-quality entertainment from Columbia Children’s Theatre (CCT) for nearly nine seasons. On Friday, May 17 CCT will present “Review Revue: Celebrating Our Past to Benefit Our Future.” In an event that blends favorites from the past and a benefit silent auction, the theatre has planned an evening sure to bring back memories of long-term and new patrons. “We are taking this time to highlight some of our best past performances,” says Jerry Stevenson, Artistic Director at CCT. In addition to numbers from a variety of shows the night includes a silent auction and Hors De’oeuvres. Silent auction items include a football signed by Steven Spurrier, a mountain home vacation, CCT Camp “passes” and more.Return to event list.
“Review Revue: Celebrating Our Past to Benefit Our Future” is spearheaded by CCT S.T.A.R (Student Thespians Achieving Results), a newly formed philanthropic group that allows Columbia area youth to participate in performance programs while benefiting nonprofits. Pamela Chalfant, Director of the organization says that, “the group is excited to provide an avenue through which the community can give back to the theatre.” Youth actors from CCT S.T.A.R will take the stage with adult CCT actors from previous shows.
Stevenson notes that an additional treat for the audience is a special appearance by Larry Hembree. Columbia theatre goers know that they can count on something wacky and fun when Larry is involved. But fans will have to wait until May 17 to see what he and the entire cast of Review Revue have in store for them this time.
The event begins at 6:00 p.m. and is being held at Columbia Children’s Theatre on the 2nd level of Richland Mall, 3400 Forest Drive. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.columbiachildrenstheatre.com. For more information contact CCT at 803-691-4548.
