Indie author DiDi Hendley released her debut novel, “Whirlwind Love: Libby’s Journey,” the first book in a series of five titles. Join her for a book signing on the front porch of George’s Southside Diner, 2333 Charleston Highway in Cayce, South Carolina.
“The Whirlwind Love books were inspired by Christian Kane’s “Acoustic Live in London” CD. The story began as a dream in 2010 that led me to study the craft of writing fiction. My career was mostly infotech and technical writing. In 2011, I attended Trident Tech in Charleston to study film production, for which I have to thank the guidance of the SC Film Commission’s free, informative workshops. I now have the first act of a feature film, “Whirlwind Love: Joe’s World.” The script offers Libby’s story from Joe’s point-of-view. I believe telling both POVs is different and interesting, offering fans the whole story,” DiDi explained.
“Whirlwind Love: Libby’s Journey” is a contemporary fictional love story with musical undertones that spans the USA in Libby Morgan’s RV. Libby travels from the South Carolina coast to fulfill a ten-year dream of photographing a hot-air balloon “Freedom Festival” at the Grand Canyon, while videotaping messages to her niece, now in college. The radio offers refuge from an emotional recording and introduces her to the music of The Brothers King, thus prompting a spontaneous side-trip to hear them perform. She meets the handsome, talented, and terribly disillusioned Joe King, who is weary of carrying his irresponsible “guitargod” brother, Chuck. Chuck refuses to grow up beyond a teenage-mentality that his groupies are too willing to feed. TBK should be headlining their final two-week state-fair tour instead of opening, as they fulfill contract obligations with their ruthless manager.
George’s Southside Diner is celebrating their 34th anniversary this month, please come congratulate George and the gang on April 12th and join the book signing. George was gracious to allow DiDi, a budding film student/writer, her cast and crew the use of his diner for a TTC storyboard photography project based on Libby’s Journey. The project can be seen at http://www.whirlwindlove.com.
Come by and say hi. Bring a friend. Meet the author. Support local authors. Buy a book or two ($15 ea). Wish George & gang Happy 34th Anniversary! Stay for lunch (on your own, of course). Libby's Journey is also available at Amazon.com or WhirlwindLove.com
