Tapp's Arts Center : Open Call for Submissions for the group exhibition Smaller Beckons

Smaller Beckons is an open call submission of works under 12 inches. If you are interested in submitting, please email images of your works email@example.com by April 26th. Invited participants will be notified by email. This is a great opportunity to see some inspiring work by South Carolina artists in all stages of their careers, and buy some fresh new art for your own personal collection. The opening reception is May1st, from 6pm to 9pm at Tapp’s Arts Center, 1644 Main Street, Columbia.Return to event list.
Small work fosters intimacy, it compels you to cross boundaries, investigate, and relate. Smaller Beckons represents the strength of artistic voices in Columbia through small works. The show includes a variety of media—painting, photography, sculpture, installation, and video and encourages you to get up-close-and-personal with creativity.
Please email images of works to TAPPSARTS@gmail.com. A maximum of 3 pieces may be submitted for consideration. Image filenames must be labeled with the artist’s name and numbers corresponding to a list of works (Example:John_Smith_01_Title.jpg).
Files must be in .jpg format at 72 dpi. The total size of the attached files should not exceed 2 MB. Images should be high quality, clear, accurate representations of the artist’s work.
Artists will be notified of selection results by email during the week of April 26, 2014.
Tapp’s Arts Center will publicize the show and reception regionally via email marketing, paid print advertising, press releases, website and social media promotion.
Tapp’s Arts Center collects a 30% commission for artwork sales. Upon sale, artists’ will be paid in full at the close of the show, May 31st, 2014.
Each work is insured to a reasonable amount while turned over to the care of Tapp’s Arts Center. Items will be handled with the utmost care; however, Tapp’s Arts Center will not be held liable for damage as a result of workmanship or design. Artists are responsible for delivery to and from the Gallery and for insuring work while in transit. Artists are also responsible for providing work that is sturdy and durable for necessary hanging purposes.
Artist agrees to allow Tapp’s Arts Center to photograph works for promotional purposes.
Drop-off and Pick-up:
Accepted work can be dropped off at the Shirt Factory Gallery between 12 noon and 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, April 17 through April 26, 2014. Shipped works are due April 26, 2014 or sooner.
Unsold artwork must be picked up between 12 noon. and 5 p.m. June 3rd through June 7, 2014. Shipped work will be returned after May 31, 2014.
Shipped entries must include return shipping paid for by the artist. All shipping is the responsibility of the artist.
