Caughman Road Park , May 17, 2014:---Ms. LaVonn Scott, Parent of Mr. Brandon Jones, is inviting members of the South Carolina Community to join her and her family for the second annual “ Brandon’s Walk”. “Brandon’s Walk” is promoting nonviolence amongst the youth and teens. Ms. Scott’s Son, Brandon Jones, was killed on January 26, 2013 from multiple gunshot wounds after several friends of his burglarized the home of a mutual friend of whom he was a guest, in an attempt to steal superficial items believed to be of value.
The proceeds from “Brandon’s Walk” will benefit CBM CARES® Mentoring Initiative of Columbia, South Carolina. The Program Manager of the Columbia, South Carolina location is Mr. Jaquia Bridges.
CBM CARES® is a national nonprofit organization that mentors young often underprivileged boys in middle and high school. Registration for the event is $20.00 and shirts are available for purchase for $20.00. Information can be attained by visiting the website firstname.lastname@example.org.
The program will begin at 5:17 pm and the walk will begin at 7:15 pm. The 5k walk will go from Caughman Rd. Park to Caughman Rd. Elementary School and back. The walk will conclude by 8:17 pm at Caughman Rd. Park with a reception following. Organizations such as the United Way of Columbia and The James R. Clark Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation are supporting the walk.
