The governor says her Cabinet members have been talking to their federal counterparts to prepare for disruptions from the possible shutdown. MARION, S.C. (AP) — Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson says he will investigate and also ask the State Law Enforcement Division to look into allegations that actress Cherie Johnson and actor Dennis White were subjected to racial profiling in his county. Johnson, known for her role in the TV show "Punky Brewster," and White, who appeared in the movie "Notorious," are black. PENDLETON, S.C. (AP) — The 3rd Annual Upstate Shield Training Exercise is scheduled for today in Pendleton. It's an annual event for law enforcement agencies from the area. Organizers say the exercise known as "Upstate Shield" is intended to give agencies an opportunity to share ideas, learn new skills and establish working relationships. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is hosting a somber ceremony today to honor residents who were killed as a result of domestic violence. Wilson is scheduled to hold the Silent Witness Domestic Violence ceremony at the Statehouse in Columbia.
