Lawmakers Consider Vetoes: Arts Rally Against Haley
(WOLO) COLUMBIA, S.C., -- Hundreds of artists throughout the state are seeing red. This after learning Governor Nikki Haley vetoed several items including funding to the arts commission which has been the heart of the art community .
Protestors came in droves, dancing, singing, painting, and even performing theatrical performances using the state house lawn as their stage to make sure their message was heard loud and clear.
The event's organizer, Nicole Brown says she posted the rally on facebook and it went viral almost instantly. Hundreds of others, just like her hoping legislators who return to work Tuesday will overturn the vetoes that they say might not only cost the state money, but it's artistic integrity.
According to Brown since the veto, the Arts Commission has had to close it's doors, unable to afford staying open.
