The mass shooting of several dozen elementary school children, and a few of their teachers has thousands across the country mourning and working on ways to keep this type of violence from happening again.

Just 24 hours after learning the news of suspected gunman Adam Lanza, who authorities say took his own life following the shooting rampage, thousands are taking action.

Petitions have started popping up on the White House Website asking President Barack Obama to bring the issue of Gun Control before congress in an effort to change legislation.

Those petitions would need 25 thousand signatures in the next 30 days before they would get a formal response from the White House.
