Memorial Day Grilling Safety
(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., --
The National Fire Protection Association says even if you have grilled out before, it's never a bad idea to be cautious while cranking up your grills.
Safety Advocates say use charcoal and propane grills outside only.
Never leave them unattended.
It's also a good idea to check tanks for leaks before actually using them, and in the case of charcoal grills, make sure coals cool completely before dumping them out to prevent starting a fire.
Officials say grills can be dangerous if not used properly. Make sure you set your grill up in an area that in away from small children and pets.
