Newberry Bomb Threat
(WOLO) NEWBERRY COUNTY,S.C., --
Just before 11 Monday morning Newberry County Sheriff's responded to a what authorities referred to as a "short and generic" bomb threat at the high school.
According to authorities, Several law enforcement agencies arrived on the scene immediately, including The Newbery County Sheriff's Office, Newberry Police and Newberry Fire.
Officials say the school was evacuated and students were taken to another nearby campus as a safety measure. Meanwhile bomb sniffing dogs were sent inside the school to further investigate the threat. A short time later the school was cleared and students were allowed o re-enter.
Parents waiting outside of the school, in some cases made tearful pleas to see their children. Some of those students were released to their parents, others remained in school until dismissal.
Authorities tell us an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
