City of Columbia mayor Bob Coble says he is ready to move the city forward after accepting the resignation of long time councilman, E. W. Cromartie. City Councilman E.W. Cromartie Resigns


   City Councilman E.W. Cromartie has resigned. The city councilman of more than 25 years stepping down after admitting to felony tax evasion charges.   E.W. Cromartie presided over a meeting Tuesday at city council,  to discuss the future of a centralized homeless shelter,  for the City of Columbia. Publix Recalls Seasoning Mixes


Publix supermarkets are voluntarily recalling four different seasoning mixes that they say may contain salmonella.   The store says it has taken packets of its Mushroom Gravy Mix, Meatloaf Seasoning, Beef Flavored Stew Mix, and Au Jus Gravy Mix off the shelves.    A Publix spokeswoman says there have been no reported cases of illnesses connected with these products.  If you have one of these products you can return them to the store for a refund.... read more

Driver Killed in Head On Collision


One person is dead after troopers say he was driving the wrong way on I-26 Tuesday morning.   Lance Corporal Judd Jones says at 2:30 Tuesday morning an unidentified man was driving a Toyota east in the west bound lane of I-26 near Lake Murray Blvd. when he collided head on with a tractor trailer.    Jones says the driver of the truck was not injured.... read more

Deputy Involved Shooting Under Investigation


(AP) _ A South Carolina sheriff says a deputyhas been hurt and a man shot to death following a fight at a poolroom.   Multiple media outlets reported the shooting happened about 2a.m. Monday in Orangeburg.   Orangeburg County Sheriff Larry Williams says a 10-year veteranofficer was treated and released from a hospital for injuries hesuffered in the fight.
