COLUMBIA,S.C., The SC Department of Consumer Affairs says they've received numerous complaint calls and have even seen some of the e-mails filter through their agency.

This time officials say the scam artists are trying to get a hold of your personal information hiding behind a fradulent email appearing to be from American Airlines. The email claims people have won e-tickets but in order to use them, they have to click on a special link that communications coordinator, Juliana Harris says will give scammers access to your login, credit card information and even your bank accounts.

Officials say there are ways to protect yourself from becoming a victim.
First, do no click on the link provided in the phoney emails. Instead open a direct link to the company in a seperate browser to do some research of your own. Secondly, do not call numbers provided in the email. Most of the time they are fake numbers aimed at baiting more information from you. And finally, Be on alert. Officials say if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
