COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina's governor and two of the state's congressional Republicans are talking about federal offshore drilling legislation.

Gov. Nikki Haley, U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham and U.S. Rep. Jeff Duncan are holding a news conference Monday in Columbia to discuss the topic Haley says has the potential to create jobs for the state. Haley's office says business leaders are also expected at the event.

Federal officials have been holding hearings along the Atlantic Coast to gather opinions and discuss the potential environmental impacts of offshore exploration.

Some estimates say an energy industry could mean 5,000 jobs and royalties to the state of as much as $500 million.
