COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A new display is offering an inside view of the lives of America's presidents as the 2012 election campaign comes to a close.

The University of South Carolina's Thomas Cooper Library is playing host to a special exhibit of pictures taken by photographers from The Associated Press.

The exhibit starts Monday and is on display through Oct. 26. It contains photos of presidents at war and at peace, in victory and defeat, confronting national crises and personal scandal, running for office and leading the country on the world stage.

The display is part of the College of Mass Communications and Information Studies' weeklong series of events on politics and the media known as I-Comm Week.
