MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — The trial is getting under way this week in the case of a South Carolina man charged with killing his young son and then putting the body in a trash can filled with 400 pounds of concrete.

Roger Anthony Williams goes on trial in Berkeley County charged with homicide by child abuse in the 2010 death of 2-year Rodricus Williams. Jury selection is set to begin Monday.

Authorities say the victim died from being hit in the head. The child was found in a trash can in Orangeburg County.

Before he was located, the child was reported to have fallen in the water off Charleston's Battery. Crews searched the waters for hours but found nothing.
