COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Supreme Court Justice Kaye Hearn is being honored by a women's group.

The South Carolina Commission on Women on Tuesday is presenting Hearn with its 2012 Woman of Achievement Award.

The honor recognizes a woman whose work has made a significant impact on the quality of life for other women in South Carolina. The group says Hearn was chosen for her dedication and passion for justice in the state.

Hearn is the second woman to sit on South Carolina's highest court. She previously served as chief judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals.
