COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A Richland County man has been charged with shooting and killing his estranged wife.

Deputies have charged Dexter Lee Boulware with murder and burglary.

Officers say Tacora Thomas was shot and killed at her mother's home late Monday morning.

Investigators say Thomas and her mother arrived at the home and were assaulted by a suspect in the home. Investigators think the suspect shot Thomas several times and left.

Deputies say the victim's mother was not hurt.

An autopsy is planned Tuesday.

Officers found Boulware at a relative's home shortly after the shooting and arrested him.

Sheriff's spokesman Curtis Wilson says Thomas had taken out a court order of protection against Boulware.
