WINNSBORO, S.C. (AP) — Fairfield County deputies are looking for a Winnsboro police officer they say shot and wounded his estranged wife.

Deputies say the shooting happened around 10 p.m. Sunday in Winnsboro.

Chief Deputy Keith Lewis says authorities think Winnsboro Department of Public Safety Officer Michael Bernard Roseboro was traveling in a patrol car when he shot his wife from his vehicle as she stood on the sidewalk.

Lewis says the couple's children saw the shooting and are being cared for by relatives. Lewis says the woman is in stable condition.

The State Law Enforcement Division says Roseboro's car was found Monday morning near Great Falls, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Authorities said the 43-year-old Roseboro should be considered armed and dangerous.
