Blue Star mothers aid Army military families


COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Ten military families in central South Carolina are getting some holiday cheer courtesy of the Blue Star Mothers volunteers and an Army relief organization.

Blue Star Mothers spokeswoman Jennifer Epting says the group is scheduled to present holiday gifts on Saturday at American Legion Post (hash)6 in Columbia to more than two dozen children. The children are part of families are stationed with the military at Fort Jackson.

Epting says the nonprofit volunteer mother's group is working with officials from Army Emergency Relief at Fort Jackson to identify those in need and to help with the event.
