LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — A Lexington County couple is facing charges in the death of their 2-month-old daughter.

Sheriff James Metts says 33-year-old Jordan Ray Hodson was arrested Tuesday and charged with homicide by child abuse. His wife, 32-year-old Sara Elizabeth Hodson, has been charged with unlawful conduct toward a child.

Deputies say the Hodsons took their daughter, Makenna, to a doctor's office on Tuesday because she was unresponsive. The girl was subsequently taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Authorities say the girl showed signs of trauma.

The Hodsons were in jail Wednesday, and it wasn't known if they had attorneys.
