SC man dies in brawl with ex-wife and her family

DARLINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Darlington County deputies are investigating the death of a man killed after he and several other people got in a fight with his ex-wife and a half-dozen of her family members.

Authorities said 41-year-old David Tidwell died at a Columbia hospital after the Saturday brawl.

Sheriff Wayne Byrd says Tidwell brought a half-dozen people with him and as many as six men may have joined Tidwell's ex-wife in the fight.

The sheriff says his deputies are trying to figure out why Tidwell came to his ex-wife's house with so many other people and what started the brawl. No charges have been filed.

Tidwell's body has been sent for an autopsy to determine how he died.
