Richland County rehires election director

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Richland County officials have rehired the woman criticized for the voting problems in November.

County officials on Wednesday said Lillian McBride will hold the newly created job of deputy director of voter registration, with a salary of nearly $75,000 a year.

That's nearly $15,000 less than she made as director of elections, the post she held in the November elections when some voters waited in lines seven hours to cast their ballots.

An independent investigation concluded not enough voting machines were deployed to the county's precincts.

McBride resigned as elections director earlier this month.

Board of Elections & Voter Registration chairman Allen Dowdy says there is no job description yet for McBride. But Dowdy says the reorganization of the department will save taxpayers money. He did not explain how.

Let me guess, rehiring the slack (my her own words) individual that TOO AWAY citizens'assurance of an above-board ethical election/registration/voting office into a NEWLY ESTABLISHED position albeit at a lesser salary and having only 1 poll worker question the hiring AND having the INTERIM APPOINTED leader nonchalant about people's distrust and then denying citizens concerns of incompetency with the office - suggesting a poll which was done with 98% feeling disenfranchised and 2% say okey dokey?? IS THIS WHAT RICHLAND COUNTY has become? A beacon for disgraceful, immoral, in-your-face...I gots the right to do what I'z wants?????

WHAT A SCAM ,just shows the public goverment cares nothing about the public .Letting HER GO was the right thing to do ,now it shows that SHE should not have been the onlt one only.DISGRACEFUL
