COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Investigators say an 18-year-old man fired several shots as the bars closed in Columbia's entertainment district.

Authorities say Shiquan Cwiklinski was shooting at a Columbia police officer and the man he was arresting around 2 a.m. Saturday. Dozens of people were also in the area as bars had just closed. No one was injured.

Columbia Police have increased patrols of the Five Points entertainment district after several other reports of gunshots in recent weeks. Chief Randy Scott says 20 officers were in the area at the time of Saturday's shooting.

Cwiklinski was charged with two counts of attempted murder. He is being held in the Richland County jail and it wasn't known if he had a lawyer.
