USC School of Medicine plans student match day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Graduating students at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine are poised to learn where they will get their advanced years of medical training.

They are scheduled to participate in Friday's nationwide Match Day, in which medical students from across the country learn where they have been accepted for their residencies. That is the final stage of their medical training.

Students have put in bids to attend several sites, and during the noon ceremony they learn where they have been accepted, or matched, when their envelopes are opened.

The ceremony takes place at the Zone at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia.
