3-year-old dead after shooting self in Sumter home


SUMTER, S.C. (AP) — Police say a 3-year-old child has died after finding a gun in an apartment in Sumter.

Investigators say someone in the apartment called 911 at around 10 a.m. Tuesday after the child found the gun and pulled the trigger.

The name of the child has not been released.

Police say they are investigating the shooting and have not released any other details. No charges have been filed.
