LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Two former Gaston town officials have been sentenced to prison for misusing public funds.

The State newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/17kEQzk) that former Mayor Larry Sharpe was sentenced to 18 months in prison and ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution for what prosecutors say was taking phony expense account payments.

Former town administrator Jennifer Poole was sentenced to three years in prison and ordered to pay more than $44,000 in restitution.

Her daughter, former town clerk Jessica Poole, has also pleaded guilty and has not yet been sentenced.

All three pleaded guilty last year to breach of trust charges. Prosecutors say they took at least $72,000 in public funds from the Lexington County town.
