Honor Flight to honor Korean War veterans
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The organization that arranges flights to Washington, D.C., for World War II veterans to be honored and see monuments in the capital is now turning its attention to people who fought in the Korean War.
Honor Flight is planning a ceremony on July 15 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center to mark the 60th anniversary of the Korean War.
U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham will speak and certificates of appreciation will be given to Korean War veterans who recently took a flight to Washington, D.C., to see the monuments.
Honor Flight originally honored World War II veterans. But with most of them now in their 80s and 90s, the group wants to honor another generation who served their country.
