Columbia public safety agencies seek applicants


COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Several agencies in Columbia are putting on a job fair for people interested in getting involved in law enforcement.

The Columbia Police Department is hosting an event at its downtown headquarters on Thursday. The city is accepting applications for jobs including police officer, probationary firefighter and 911 operator. There are also positions for police chemist and telecommunications training officer.

Participants can also watch police physical fitness demonstrations, and applicants are encouraged to bring their resumes and valid picture identification.
