NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) _ Authorities say autopsies have confirmed that a 52-year-old man shot his son to death in their North Augusta home, then turned the gun on himself.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Samuel Hewlett shot his 21-year-old son Brandon in the chest several times before shooting himself in the head.

Investigators say Hewlett's wife found the bodies of her husband and son when she returned home Sunday morning.

The coroner says it appears the father and son were arguing before the shooting, but the investigation into what happened in the home continues.
