COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- "That was the flag made for this country," says Braden Griffin, Boy Scout Troop 276.

And the Boy Scouts of Troop 276, say it's made to fly. So they've gone door to door asking their neighbors to purchase a flag to put in their yard.

"There's a couple of flags on each house down this street," says Griffin.

Earlier this week, we met the scouts and learned more about the project.

"When you see a flag here, you see a flag there, everywhere it makes you feel good inside," says Hunter Griffin, Boy Scout Troop 276.

The flags fly five holiday out of the year.

"It's just a couple of feet away from their door," says Braden Griffin

Memorial Day is one of them.

"It's really nice to go out and see a whole street that's filled with flags, says Justin Griffin, father of Braden and Hunter Griffin.

"As a Dad, it makes me really proud obviously that they'll take on this responsiblity," says Justin Griffin.

The same is true for Scout leader, Richard England who's son Mitchell is also working on the project.

"The neighbors make comments to them and they feel like they are making a difference in the neighborhood and the local community," says England.

But for the boys it's not about the recognition, but instead for them it's about service.

"It gives people a since of pride for their country and makes them feel they are in the best country in the world," says Hunter Griffin.

"They can look out on these days during the year and just know that they're supporting our country, they're helping, they can have pride, they can know that they're part of the United States," says Mitchell England.

The flags are sold to those living in or around Lake Carolina. For $30.00 the Boy Scouts put up and take down the flags. Money raised from flag sales goes to fund the groups trip to summer camp.
