(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C., --

More than a dozen people joined in a fight authorities say started between two teenage girls following an ongoing feud. According to officials, a 16 year old was beaten while residents in the Gonzales Gardens community watched and recorded the incident on their cell phones.

Deputy Curtis Wilson with the Richland County Sheriff's Department say, one 14 year old girl did try to jump into the fight to assist the teen, before the mob ranging in age from 14 to 49, turned on them both beating them so severely, their clothing was ripped to shreds.

Authorities say they were alerted to the incident after a Keenan High School resource officer over heard students talking about the posted fight.

Deputies say they're looking at the video captured on a cell phone to find out if they can identify anyone involved and plan on charges participants with aggravated assault and assault and battery by a mob.

Deputy Wilson says there are various summer programs offered byt he Richland County Sheriff's Department, and summer camps these teens could spend spend more productive time taking part in.
