COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- The Richland County Coroner's Office has released the name of the child hit by a car near Watkins-Nance Elementary School.

Coroner Gary Watts said 7-year-old Joshua Brown of Columbia was struck and killed Wednesday after he ran into the roadway around 2:55 pm.

The incident occurred in the 2500 block of Barnhamville Road.

So far, no charges have been filed against the driver of the car.

The Columbia Police Department is investigating.
