WOLO)COLUMBIA,S.C., -- Congressman Jim Clyburn was born under Jim Crow laws giving him an eye opening look at the world at a very young age. Still, Clyburn tells us it's those experiences that made him the man he is today. One of the reasons for the title of his new book, Blessed Experiences; Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black. More than a hundred people attended his book signing at USC's Hollings library Monday night leaving standing room only. The Memoir was 30 years in the making. Clyburn says it details some of the biggest controversial moments of his personal and political life here in South Carolina. All of the proceeds from the book will go toward the James A. Clyburn Research and Scholarship Foundation to help young people achieve dreams of higher education.
