(WOLO) WINNSBORO,S.C., --

Chief Deputy Keith Lewis tells us Michael Roseboro had been on the run from authorities since allegedly shooting his estranged wife who survived the attack.

The four day search came to an end Thursday evening as Fairfield County Sheriff's searched high and low in through a heavily wooded area Roseboro worked and grew up in.

Thursday morning police say one of his sisters called 9-1-1 to alert police he had been at her house when she returned from work. Unable to talk him into turning himself into police, authorities say he fled back into a wooded area.

Just before 7, Police located Roseboroat Camp Welfare near Great Falls. Chief Deputy Lewis was able to speak with Roseboro moments before he shot himself in the chest.

Roseboro has been taken to an area hospital where his injuries are said to be serious but do not appear to be life threatening.

He is charged with attempted murder.
