(WOLO) COLUMBIA,S.C.,--

Hunger is a growing problem, not just here in the Midlands but across the country. For the third year, Mast General is teaming up with Merrell shoes. With the help of Harvest Hope Food Bank, every time you purchase a pair of Merrell brand shoes, a back pack full of food will be donated to area children to keep them from going hungry over the weekend.

Main Street Mast General Store Manager, Jeremy Becraft says as a father of a 7 year old, the thought of his child going to bed hungry encourages him to do everything he can to help.

"we are in tough times. It's just a fact that we're facing these days. Sometimes the parents are doing the best they van with what they have...and we are doing everything we can."

If you would would like to help, all you have to do is purchase a pair of shoes at any Mast General store through October 31st.
