Firefighters respond to Early Morning Fire

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Firefighters had an early call this morning in Columbia responding to a fire.

A Columbia Fire Department spokesperson says a house in Highland Point Drive was on fire Saturday morning shortly before 5 a.m. Two people and a pet were at home at the time, but they were able to get out safely after the smoke alarm went off.

The fire is under control, but the cause of the fire and the amount of damage is unknown at this time.
