Fliers, Expect Upcoming Delays at Airports

By News Department

WASHINGTON (AP) - Air traffic controller furloughs scheduled to kick in on Sunday could result in flight delays of more than three hours in Atlanta.

Federal officials also say there could be significant delays in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York-area airports.

Because of across-the-board spending cuts Congress failed to avert, Transportation Department officials say they have no choice but to cut controller staffing by 10 percent.
