Forum on Ferguson

By Rochelle Dean

It was a forum that packed the Eau Claire High School Auditorium. Hundreds of parents, children and city leaders all coming together to discuss the shooting death of Ferguson, Missouri teen, Michael Brown.

Mayor Steve Benjamin says the purpose is to speak with youth instead of speaking to them keeping the lines of communication open and dialogue proactive.

" Columbia is no Ferguson, Obviously we have some established and strong lines of communication that are currently open, but you can never take that for granted."

And city officials are hoping to keep it that way. Many of the young adults in attendance were able to fill out 3 x 5 index cards with a questions that was answered by a panel from various backgrounds.
