Gamecock Fans Excited About Back To Back Title Wins
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) -- Gamecock fans all over Columbia are excited about yet another National title coming home.
"The last two nights I spent watching the game, it's unbelievable I get choked up just thinking about it," says Diane McCarty.
Diane McCarty fought back tears Wednesday while talking about the team.
"i'm so proud for South Carolina and those young men, they are so wonderful," says McCarty
She wasn't alone, Matt Gottliep got his new Gamecock t-shirt hot off the press from his daughter at Eat More Tees.
"She kind of snuck one off the production roll for me, so that I could go by there and wear it here today," says Gottliep
But forget the fan gear, a group of South Carolina Senators are ready to re-name the field at Carolina Stadium. That's right, how does the Ray Tanner field at Carolina Stadium sound?
Senator John Courson, says it fits.
"We think it would be an appropriate way to thank Ray Tanner for what he has done for my University, for the state and for those young men who play for him," says Courson.
The thanks don't stop there, once again the City of Columbia will hold a parade for the team, this time including part of the University of South Carolina marching band.
Meanwhile, fans will show their support by wearing their colors.
"I will always support my Gamecocks, I'm a die hard fan and if the least I can do is wear my garnet and black, I'll do it," says one Gamecock fan.
Fans say one thing they'll never forget is the feeling when the last out was made.
"I was complete relief," says Gottliep
"These guys are what you call a team, they exemplify the meaning of a team," says McCarty
