Gameday: Spurrier Sets Sights on 200th Win

Tools

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier is just one win away from 200 victories in his college coaching career - a milestone he barely recognizes.

Spurrier counts his wins in the NFL and USFL, so in his mind, he is going for victory No. 247 tonight at 7 p.m. EST when the No. 8 Gamecocks take on Alabama-Birmingham.

With 70 other college coaches past the 200-win milestone, Spurrier says it just means someone has been fortunate to coach a number of years, stay healthy and has managed not to get fired.

Spurrier has 20 wins in three seasons at Duke, 122 wins and a national title in 12 years at Florida and 57 wins in eight seasons and counting at South Carolina.
