Insurance agents with State Farm say they've seen a spike in calls for insurance claims following this weekend's thunder and Hail storms spurred by a blistering heatwave.

The storms that in some cases, uprooted trees, downed power lines and dumped golf ball sized hail on the area left residents with massive amounts of damage they now need repaired.

Larry Lucas, An veteran insurance agent says residents need to prepare now before another storm rears it's head. Especially homeowners whose residents were left exposed to the elements.

"Usually anytime you see a big storm like we had, chances are there is another one right behind it."

Lucas suggests you're best line of defense is to cover all damaged areas to protect them from being more severely destroyed. Also, it's a good idea to make a note of all of your assets. This way if anything if damaged you can give your insurance adjuster a detailed inventory of what needs to be replaced.

So far this year, more than 150 million claims have been reported statewide, not including calls which are still coming in from this past weekend.
