Jenny Sanford Says No Run for Congress

By News Department

COLUMBIA, S.C. (CNN) - The former first lady of South Carolina has decided against running for Congress in the Palmetto State.

If she had run, Jenny Sanford, could have faced off in a bitter Republican primary battle against her ex-husband, former South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford.

Jenny Sanford was courted to run for office for years and had said she was open to the idea of running for an open House seat.

However, Mark Sanford's decision to run for Congress late last month was a strong signal that Jenny would not run.

She filed for divorce in December 2009 after her husband admitted to an extramarital affair with an Argentine woman.
