Midlands Father on UPS/FedEx Delay: "It sucks"
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO) -- Kyle Greene says his first time ordering online for the holidays will be his last. This, after Christmas gifts for his two children did not arrive in time, due to delays by UPS and FedEx.
Apologies from United Parcel Service (UPS) and FedEx are little consolation to the Midlands father, who spent $85 online for his kids, sixteen and seven. He claims he ordered in enough time and was informed his purchase would arrive on time. But, his kids' gifts were not home for Christmas.
"Apologies don't work when you have a 7-year-old looking for presents under the tree," lamented Greene. "I felt embarrassed because they didn't have everything I wanted them to have, and the stuff I got, was stuff they really wanted."
The companies blame heavy demand and bad weather, in part, for Christmas cargo arriving late. By Thursday morning, the day after Christmas, deliveries were expected to arrive. On its website, UPS said, "We understand the importance of your holiday shipments. However, the volume of air packages in our system exceeded the capacity of our network."
Nearly a dozen states reported unhappy customers. Count Kyle Greene in for South Carolina. The first timer ordering online for the holidays says he and his kids have learned their lesson.
"This was my first and will be my last time. I'll spend that extra money and go into a store than online."
